GLOBAL MISSION PROJECTS SUPPORTED BY PLCPC through the OUTREACH FOUNDATION
GLOBAL CHURCH MISSION SUBCOMMITTEE
MISSION BEYOND COMMITTEE
ANNUAL REPORT
2009
Funds in the amount of $23,500 provided by you, the PLCPC Congregation, for global church mission were strategically well invested in propagating the Good News of Jesus Christ according to the scripture: Mathew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...”. In addition to these funds $2,500 were privately contributed to support training of Iranian Christian Leaders, and $50.00 were privately contributed for Mini-libraries for Chinese pastors and lay leaders. Personal covenanted relationships were established between subcommittee members and real missionaries. Close communication was maintained throughout the year with Peter Lim, China Missionary, and Sasan Tavassoli, Iranian Missionary as well as Jeff Ritchie, The Outreach Foundation, TOF. It is planned to forward such communications during 2010 to Session, Deacons, those members who have been missionaries or whose family members have been missionaries, and any interested Congregation members. These communications will help to facilitate Congregation members in developing a more personal covenanted relationship with these missionaries.
Funds were distributed as follows: Peter Lim, $7,120; Sasan Tavassoli, $7,150; Iranian Training Program for Iranian Christian Leaders, $6,500; Jeff Ritchie, TOF, $2,730. It is very important to remember that the fewer recipients, the more can be accomplished with the funds by the recipient.
PETER LIM – Peter has visited and participated in PLCPC Worship Service. Peter represents TOF in deepening its relationships with the Church in China, especially in the provinces of Jiangsu, Shandong, Heilongjiang, and Shaanxi. He is creating the first ever Sunday School curriculum for Chinese children. He led visits to China during the past two years deepening the relationship between PLCPC Global Church Mission and the Chinese through participation of our Jim Grisolia, Carla Stayboldt, and Taeler Morgan.
SASAN TAVASSOLI – Sasan has visited and participated in PLCPC Worship Service. Sasan represents TOF in its relationships with Iran through Iranian Christian leaders in many ways including the “Iranian Training Program for Iranian Christian Leaders Program”. He is a former Shi’ite Muslim from Iran.
Iranian Training Program for Iranian Christian Leaders - The purpose of this program is to identify and train a cadre of gifted Iranian lay and church leaders to facilitate lifelong growth towards maturity in their local Church.
JEFF RITCHIE- Jeff has visited and participated in several PLCPC Worship Services and our “Window On the World” annual event. He is an excellent global church mission advisor and facilitator.
Window On the World (WOW) was sponsored two days with special speaker, Jeff Ritchie, TOF, and special speakers from Bethel Seminary, Professor Arnell Motz, global church missions, and Gin Lao, missionary who is a student at Bethel. WOW provided focus on global church missions and insight into missionary activities.
OPERATING PLAN
An Operating Plan was prepared to provide communication with Session, and basis for Global Church Mission performance, constructive criticism, and performance improvement. The plan content includes: mission statement, partnership with The Outreach Foundation, funding, allocation of funds methodology, internal and external means for implementation, and appendices providing justification for specific fund allocations. The plan shapes policy that aids in assuring strategically well invested funds. The plan is available to any Congregation member for review.
